Dámaris was asked to speak in the Dominican Republic at a women’s conference called Mujer Verdadera, which is the Spanish version of the True Woman conferences put on by our dear friend, Nancy Leigh DeMoss Wogelmuth, and her ministry, Revive Our Hearts. All the speakers were excellent, but most of the speakers were translated from English, which makes it all a little harder to focus. Dámaris spoke in Spanish, of course. She first gave her testimony, then in her second session, she spoke on the book of Ruth. Those messages (in Spanish) are available on YouTube here.
Cris Garrido, the Spanish publisher for B&H, a division of LifeWay, was at the conference with his wife. He approached Dámaris after the sessions and said, “Your story needs to be in a book!” That was February, 2015. It is a wonderful book, full of the biblical truths that the Lord has been teaching Dámaris through her life experiences. It is not an autobiography (my life is not that interesting, she says), but neither is it a Bible study. It is a beautiful blend of both, under the over-arching theme of dying to self.
“Adios a mi” is the title. Translated, it means “Goodbye to Me,” which also happens to be the title of a wonderful song on Dámaris’s recent CD, Walk With Me. The book is written in Spanish. Are there plans to translate it into English? Not yet. The Lord apparently wanted it in Spanish first, so we trust that He knows why.
In August and September, we will be traveling to Argentina twice; in November we will go to the Dominican Republic, then next spring will find us in Mexico. God is opening up doors (puertas) for Dámaris in Latin American circles, and we are going through them.
Pray for us, for our travels, and for the people that God brings to listen, regardless of what language they speak. And, pray for the readers of Adiós a mi to find the true happiness there is in dying to our self interests and obeying Christ, trusting the Lord to have His way in our lives.
The book is available on our website, of course, and also on Amazon. If you have Spanish speaking friends, why not consider ordering a gift for them? We are working on the audiobook here in our home studio, so it will be available soon, too, Lord willing.
